2016 was a fun Christmas. We threw a holiday party at the store, for which I got put in charge of the decorations. I ought to have done more, but I had fun with what I did do. I underestimated the amount of decorations needed to make the whole store look grand. I made one of our wreaths though, as I’d seen my mother do at home. This year’s book tree was Hollins green and gold.
This year no tree was built till the holiday arrived, and so this is a more modest construction and a solo effort. It was also the first year since I started building book trees that a cat was in the house, so I had to carefully consider which ornaments to display and which to leave in the box on the top shelf of the closet in which they were safely stored.
One of my friends called this a “pine tree” because you may pine for the books at the bottom. Bah-dum-tshhh. I told my friends that year that I had no ornaments of my own to decorate with at Christmas. They delivered in care packages and Christmas presents. I have the best friends.
